In the bustling corridors of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA78), two significant figures from the UAE and India convened to discuss their nations’ deep-rooted ties. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, met to reaffirm their commitment to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The dialogue between the two ministers was not just a reflection of their historical friendship but also an exploration of future collaborations.

Both nations have been intertwined in a strategic partnership since 2017, further solidified by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in 2022. This bond has paved the way for numerous developmental achievements benefiting the citizens of both countries. A significant topic of discussion was the pressing issue of climate change. With the UAE gearing up to host the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) in Expo City Dubai, the ministers delved into the potential for bilateral cooperation in this critical area.

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the mutual dedication of both nations to bolster international efforts in addressing global challenges. He highlighted the importance of building constructive partnerships that not only benefit the two countries but also contribute positively to the global community. The significance of the UAE-India relationship was underscored, with Sheikh Abdullah noting that the upcoming COP28 presents a unique opportunity to showcase the strength of their ties and the essence of international collaboration in tackling pressing global issues.
